The music scene in Chicago has been one for the books. A good book it has been, though we’ve seen chapters close on plenty artist from the city of drills. We’ve seen a lot of new comers come and go over the years and we have lost plenty of day ones. From FBG Duck to Juice Wrld, Chicago can not seem to keep anything legendary alive. From Zack TV to half of Kollege Kid. From Smylez to Fredo. Murder, drugs, and sickness plagued the cities music scene way before COVID.
But here at Rap Cap & Kicks we are in the business of giving people their flowers while they are still here. Very few artist can say they started from the very begining of this movement and are still relevant in the city without becoming mainstream superstars. But the members of the west side trio M.I.C very well can. From what I can attest to, each member has maintained a consistent solo career throughout the years. But now Mikey Dollaz has taken to IG to hint at the group reuniting and dropping a new mixtape.
M.I.C. was one of the first Gangster Disciple affilated artist of the Drill Music movement. Maybe because they were primarily based on the West side of Chicago we did not see them in the middle of the well publicized GD vs BD war on the southside. Though they are heavily affilated with most GD artist M.I.C. seemed to get along with some of everyone. They got features from most big name artist such as Duck, King Louie, Billionaire Black, Rooga, Rico Recklezz etc. We know most of these artist dont even get along but they all seemed to have love for Mikey Dollaz, Lil Chris and IL Will. I could be wrong but I got a vague memory of one of them having a Lil Durk feature before the war got bloody. But regardless I hope this actually goes somehwere. I spoke on the few times I met Mikey in Dro City at my boy Kilo studio back in 07. We never got a chance to make any music but I did end up getting a feature from Lil Chris on my younger brothers track “Choppa State of Mind” in like 2015. One of my favorite guest verses we’ve ever recieved. I still actually play “K Town Playgroud” one of my favorite songs from them. So if you aint in tune get in tune because this is big.
