Drake faced a wave of Kendrick Lamar jokes after Baka Not Nice, who has a controversial legal history involving a prostitution charge, attended his son Adonis Graham’s seventh birthday party. The party, held over the weekend, featured a SpongeBob SquarePants and soccer theme, and photos showed Baka celebrating alongside Drake and other OVO associates.
Internet users quickly revived lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” aimed at Drake, Baka, and the OVO crew, following Baka’s appearance at Adonis’ birthday party. Comments on an Instagram post of the group photo included: “Why is Baka around?” and “Those predators move in flocks,” with one user noting, “The jokes write themselves man lol.”
On “Not Like Us,” Kendrick rapped: “And Baka got a weird case, why is he around? / Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”
The line references Baka’s 2014 arrest for allegedly forcing a 22-year-old woman into prostitution and stealing her money.
Baka Not Nice, whose real name is Travis Savoury, avoided charges related to prostitution and human trafficking but pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman. He received a six-month jail sentence but was released due to time served. In 2017, he signed with Drake’s OVO Sound label.
