Diddy’s Legal Team Wants Anonymous Accusers in Federal Case to Be Identified

Diddy’s legal team is requesting that prosecutors reveal the identities of the anonymous accusers in his federal case, asserting that this transparency is crucial for mounting an informed defense in the high-profile proceedings.

According to a report from the Associated Press on Tuesday, attorneys for the Bad Boy Records founder argued before Judge Arun Subramanian in New York that the numerous allegations against Diddy could jeopardize his right to a “fair trial,” unless the identities of the alleged victims are disclosed. The legal team contends that knowing who is making accusations will enable them to prepare a more robust defense.

“As such, if Mr. Combs is compelled to defend against criminal charges that the government does not intend to substantiate at trial, he has the right to be informed about it,” the attorneys stated in their motion letter, which was reviewed by Complex on Wednesday.

Diddy faces serious charges in the indictment, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution purposes. Notably, the charges of racketeering and trafficking carry a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convictions are secured. The transportation-related charge could result in a sentence of up to 10 years.

Having pleaded not guilty to the charges, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has criticized the prosecution as an “unjust” attempt to target his client. Agnifilo emphasized that Diddy, who has recently been implicated in a new series of lawsuits, has been entirely “cooperative” in the New York case. He urged the public to “reserve judgment,” labeling his client as “an innocent man with nothing to hide.”

Regarding the recent lawsuits, spearheaded by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, Diddy’s legal representatives have also responded, categorically denying the allegations of assault made by the latest anonymous accusers. They expressed confidence in the forthcoming courtroom proceedings.

“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full faith in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process,” Diddy’s attorneys stated in a statement shared with Complex on Monday. “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—be it adult or minor, man or woman.”
