Balenciaga Drops ‘Fully Destroyed’ Sneaker For $1,850

Fashion trends seem to come out of nowhere now days. One day its in, the next day it’s out. High fashion designers have always included a rather peculiar look that doesn’t seem to fit in with everyday life. Unless you’re an extra on Austin Powers I don’t see the need for 75% of the modeled pieces at an average high end fashion show.

Sneaker trends are completely different though. What’s in over here isn’t necessarily what’s in over there. In my community , which is inner city urban,  we wear our kicks clean. In other communities its common to see a young white girl in a pair of severely distressed G Fazzo’s. Seems as if companies have embraced the distressed look but the fully destroyed look is just mind boggling.

Dubbed the Paris Sneaker, Balenciaga’s newest footwear offering comes in both high-top and mule offerings. The normal version, which retails at $625 for the high-top and $495 for the mule, is relatively inoffensive. They look like tumble-dried Chuck Taylors and come in black, red, and white colorways. If Balenciaga stopped there it probably could have avoided the social media response, but the Demna Gvasalia-led brand took things further with a limited-edition “Fully Destroyed” variation of the shoe. According to Balenciaga, these specific pairs were created for the sneaker’s ad campaign and come “extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied.” 100 pairs are available from balenciaga.com in white and black and priced at $1,850 each.
