I remember a time where people actually wore sneakers. Looking at my closet I probably have a good 20 plus pairs of sneakers deadstock. I do plan on wearing them but I remember when most of us would wear them to school the next day after the release. I also remember when Mike didn’t have to wear them in order for them to be acceptable to wear in high school hallways. Outside of high school we all know a sneaker collector who won’t have anything to do with a release if its not the exact shoe that Mike wore in the game. He will swear on his life that he never owned a pair of “Dub Zeroes” or “Six Rings”. This person probably also hates to see movies from the 90’s get remade. But what if this remake isn’t so bad?

Debuting in 1996 the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” wouldn’t see another drop until 2008, when it was rereleased as part of Jordan Brands countdown series. Paired up with the Air Jordan 11 “Bred” this was obviously the most sought out pack in the lineup. So whats the difference? The Air Jordan 12 features a white leather upper, black outsoles and gold eyelets giving quite a bit of respect to the OG. The difference is, this take on this silhoutte is upgraded as it recieves a suede toe overlay. This AJ12 also features more gold details on the tongue, mudguard and heel pull tabs.

So this remake isn’t so bad right? Don’t think of it as Belly 2. Think of it more as Coming 2 America. It’s still got it’s original cast. Expect the Air Jordan 12 “Royalty” to release on October 9, pending official confirmation from Nike. MSRP will be set at $190 USD. Early pairs are also available now via GOAT.
