The Air Jordan 1 is arguably the most iconic sneaker in history. With a slew of OG colorways being reimagined, the metalic air Jordan one lined is often overlooked. One of those is the ‘Metallic Red’ iteration that was initially released in 1986. 38 years later, in 2024, we will see the Air Jordan 1 High 85 ‘Metallic Red’ return to retailers.

The ‘Metallic Red’ Air Jordan 1 was released a handful of times throughout the years, each having a different build. As mentioned, we saw the shoes’ first release in 1986 alongside other Metallic pairs. The next time we saw a release was in 2009. This iteration was part of the ‘Do The Right Thing’ pack and launched alongside the ‘Green Metallic’ pair. This pair was also the furthest from the OG, as it featured a Jumpman on the tongue and heels. Fast forward to 2015, and Jordan Brand launched the Air Jordan 1 Low OG in the Metallic Red theme. The shoes are expected to return during the Holiday of 2023, but the color blocking has yet to be confirmed. The last time we saw the shoes debut was in 2017. While it was closer to 1986, there were still some differences when it came to the build (2017 was the Air Jordan 1 High OG)

This Air Jordan 1 High 85 comes dressed in a White and Red color combination. Currently, the specifics of this shoe is not available, including the shade of Red used. However, we were told by our sources that the infamous color blocking will return in 2024. Since it will be the High 85, it will be the closest to the original to date. Utilizing White leather throughout, the same shade also appears on the laces and midsole. Highlighting the shoes is Metallic Red on the Swoosh logos, collar, and Wings. Finishing the look is Red Nike Air branding on the tongue and rubber outsole.
